http://drsquat.com/content/main/formal-studies-and-exercise-science/re-shoulder-replacement

On Nov 19, 2009, I had a partial right-shoulder replacement, specifically the Copeland Process. The surgeon chose this alternative to a total shoulder replacement since he said I could do some lifting after recovery.

Although I did a PR of 203 kilos in competition in the Bench Press at 198 lb, I know that I'm unable to do that amount any longer.

Is there a measure of how much weight and stress my shoulder could safely attempt?

And since the BP shirt gives stability to the shoulder, is their other remedial gear to safely do the BP?

Other factors:

1. 64 yo
2. both hips replaced
3. Both hands, carpal tunnel surgery
4. left shoulder will eventually need replacement

Hi there,

Force and muscle tension.

If I was accelerating 100kg at 1m every .5 of a second concentric, and then .5 of a second eccentric,{.5/.5} how much tension would be on my muscles. And again how much tension on the muscle if I was to accelerate the 100kg 1m every 2 seconds concentric and 4 seconds eccentric ??? Would there be more when doing 1 rep at .5/.5, or 1 rep at 2/4 or 6 reps at .5/.5 I go for the 6 reps at .5/.5.

I would say without any worrys the 6 reps at .5/.5

Hello I was just curious if I sent in papers that stated that I attended a Seminar last march of 09 in San Fransico California, if that would count towards my CEU's or if it would count for anything towards recertifying? Thank you.

http://drsquat.com/content/mammalian-target-rapamycin-complex-c1

I just read an interesting article in Peak Performance issue 263 relating to this enzyme, its relation to strength building, and its vulnerability to adenosine monophosphate kinase, a bi-product of aerobic exercise. Maybe I just don't know how to read scholarly articles, but the only support for several of the assertions made was a compendium of "References" to which I do not have access. On the contrary, several of the assertions seemed to have the status of axioms such as adenosine monophosphate being the product of the breakdown of adenosine triphospate for the production of energy. The bottom line was that if you are trying to build both strength and endurance, you should do your aerobic exercise before you lift.
