Something definately wrong with my upper back on the left side of my spine. Its been irratated off and on for a year. Midsummer last year I had a meet (push pull) and the gym was frigid, and on my final pull I thought my spine slipped out of alignment. Never healed up right, now my neck clicks like a ratchet. Contemplating seeing a chiropractor, because if 315 is the best I can do for sets of 5, after this long, then its not getting better, in fact, it feels worse than ever. Until I can find the time, I am gonna stick to squats only and hope I can bring the dead back up to where it was prior to meet time.

Squat day was a bust
Feels like I pulled a muscle in the lower ab during warm up, like a hot match....so I pulled the plug and went home. I'll try some light squats later this week and see how it feels. Been having a lot of injuries this cycle, very discouraging.

Referring to the ab situation from 6/5, after thinking about it, I am concerned it may be a groin pull. tonight (6/12) I am gonna try some real light squats and if its good, I'll ramp up the weight later in the week, if not then I guess I am bench only for the July meet. I need to seriously work on the squats and DL the next couple of weeks, all these nagging injuries have kept me from getting a good lower body workout for some time. Now that time is short, I need to get at least three good weeks in to hit close to my PR....frustrating squat cycle, big gains on bench though.

Groin/ab still tender, probably not a pull but more like a strain. Still not able to go heavy, so I did....

Gonna stick to light box squatting for a while and do bench only at the july meet. Might be fun to do a single lift with less variables to worry about. It will also allow me to work more on rehabbing the trap strain by cutting out the DL for awhile. so now I will be focusing primarily on bench and keep the leg stuff light.

spent the last seven days regretting the shoulder pain comment on the last post...tried to do a light bench workout on 8/23, but the shoulder felt like something inside was disconnected, and tons of pain. laid off for a few days, and Monday was the first day back.On 8/18, I strained my glutes doing a box squat/good morning work out (see post above) and they swole up like basketballs, never had that happen before, it was kind of scary. But the posterior chain feels good, in fact laying off for a week or so seems to have allowed some needed rest. Gonna hit the squats again on wednesday and hope for the best, these nagging injuries are frustrating to say the least. When I was younger, I simply did not have to deal with this kind of stuff, now I see I need to be much smarter and less aggressive in pursuing progress...age is a bitter pill to swallow. So yesterday, after taking 5 advil to mask the shoulder pain I did the following:
Bench press 1x3 315, 1x2 325, 3x2 335 (bar speed increased each set as I dialed back into my bench groove)

Travelling through SC this weekend, I attempted to work out in the 'fitness center' of a Best Western.....probably would have been better served sleeping in, but here is what i did...All on a poorly designed cable contraption....

Tricep lockout (supposed to be a sitting bench press, but there was only about a 6 inch range of motion , so full stacjk was very easy,) I did 5 sets of 15....

Lat pulldown shrugs (due to limited range of motion I tried the lat pull shrug thing I heard Doc propose at one time on this site) full stack 3x15
