My experience with Pro Power supplements (the road to 700)

DrSquat's picture

Folks, Pro Power has some unique supplements that's not found anywhere else (Mass Builder and Anaerobic Power) and great supplements that's better quality than anywhere (great protein, bcaa's, creatine, glutamine, and awesome vitamin supplements), so I'm going to detail my training and supplement logs here.
Also, Jeffrey Vaughn said I will never deadlift 700 "in his lifetime" so the gauntlet has been thrown down! This is my road to 700 and beyond. Smiling

My experience with Pro Power supplements (the road to 700)

I would like to see that and for you to post your log in the training log section. That would be cool! What is your best deadlift now? And do you compete in any meets?

Personally, I'm looking to progress from 430 lbs with short term goals of 455, 475, 495, and past 500. But after that is a ways to go, so I'll make some new goals later. I was invited to a local raw push/pull meet in my local area towards the end of June. I've never competed before, but I'm thinking about it. I know it will force me to improve on my deadlifts and bench too, which is my worst lift.

Why do you think Jeffrey Vaughn said that to you? Could it perhaps be just to get the response from you that he already has, to challenge the 700? My guess is that 700 is a ways a way for you. But I think you can do it if you put your mind to it. I will really like to see it.

Serious? 700 is nuts! How much you getting now?

I'll say the same thing to you as I'd say to anyone else. You can do it if you put your mind to it!

Look up Vince Anello. Read up on some of the interviews with him. It will inspire you. I'm sure. I remember somewhere he said that when he first made the change from bodybuilding to powerlifting he thought he could never become a good deadlifter. But with passionate desire, will power and determination, he was able to break world records, become one of the best deadlifters of all time, and get into the hall of fame. He was the first man ever to deadlift 800 lbs at a body weight of less than 200 lbs.

Cool

V N's deadlift

See if you can get V N to post his description of his deadlift style.
I used it and increased my deadlif 50lbs within a 2 weeks. I have lost that post along with my old computer (2 computers ago). I would love to have that again.

(crappy deadlifter to start with, still am, only about 400.)

Yeah? Who's that?

Hey quazimodo, where ya at so far?

My experience with Pro Power supplements (the road to 700)

I'm looking forward to this thread's progress. Good luck.

My experience with Pro Power supplements (the road to 700)

squat big, im at a crap place, actually i discovered today that my previous week of uni project ie starving myself as i worked because i forgot to eat made me weaker. Atleast 40lb off the deadlift, id say.

Charles: Do you ever have to deal with knee pain? (also its so much easier to read when you dont go capslock crazy Sticking out tongue)

BIG DADDY's picture

My experience with Pro Power supplements (the road to 700)

yep i have a bone spur in both knees and left ankle.

the knee pain i usually if i can get a massage deep tissue stuff to loosen everything up .

then i would back off heavy squat and dl from the floor.

i do this first to give my knee and the rest of me some recovery time.

60 to 80 % box squat work and rack-pulls for about 3 to 4 weeks that usually takes care of the problem.

now if that doesn't work more massage and hamstring work and everything i said above.

My experience with Pro Power supplements (the road to 700)

how did you develop the bone spurs? heavy lifting or injury/congenital etc?

My experience with Pro Power supplements (the road to 700)

you could also interpret what the guy said about you not doing 700 as the basis for your motivation to accomplish it, for deadlift for gettin the biggest gains, getting the leg angle right and bringing them in at the start of the lift was probably the single most important thing for me, also rack pulls are better than straps as a strategy for acclimatising to heavy weights, and shock training which i think is very important, like using 'dead-weight bars', or bars with collars which are a reduced distance apart compared to normal bars, going back to normal bars there is a big difference, and maybe doing that once a month, and other strategies to make the mechanical advantage a bit harder in training (like heavier disks load first, and disks they never use in competition if you can get hold of them, ie 50kg+ disks) load first. then the mechanical advantage when you lift the normal bars will be amplified. and maybe reading some of Big Daddys motivational poems as above as part of your psychological motivation.

AM Workout:

Deadlift

Deadlift (Sumo, no wraps, no suit)
Warmup: 256x3,306x3,346x2,396x1,416x1

466x3

PM Workout:

I was so tired that when attempting my 2nd workout of the day, I couldn't see straight. Perhaps I could use some more work capacity?

High Pulls
135x5
135x3

Single Leg Deadlift
40 x 5
50 x 5
65x 5
75x 5

Planks and hanging leg raises, then stopped. That was tough.
Charlie Francis says after you PR, go home, anyone know if that applies to lifting?

DrSquat's picture

My experience with Pro Power supplements (the road to 700)

Oh, and after I lifted I took a cold shower (body, not head). Yes, I'm pulling out every trick in the book for this one. Laughing out loud

My experience with Pro Power supplements (the road to 700)

thats good going on the PR 3 rep max, but as that bloke alluded to after a PR you shouldnt do too much more in the one session, it will take a hell of a lot out of you, you should milk as many 3, 2 and 1RM PRs in this cycle as you can, not doing too many in the one session, one PR is enough, and slot in a couple of recovery sessions (say just 450x3-5s, 2 sets or so) in between, to try and extend the run of PRs? i find with a good PR on deadlift, my body/mind just turns off a bit, so it can become dangerous to attempt too many in the one session with respect to potential injuries,

Blew my 5RM away by 26 pounds. People get ready...the train's a comin...:0(

I was sick for a week so took a week off, I'm surprised I was able to do this, yes it's only 2 sets, I was going for 5x5 but I'm still feeling the effects of the past week. Did the usual Pro Power protocol, including lots of glutamine. I'm impressed at how well taking cold showers is doing for me, the recovery is great, and from what I've read it aids in fat burning and longevity. I wash my hair with warm water but then turn the cold on my body. It's great and you get used to it after the initial shock. I highly recommend it. Cool

Pro Power BCAA's
Pro Power Anaerobic (best kept secret in the supplement world)
Pro Power Mass Builder (just started taking it)
Pro Power LipoForce spray
Pro Power Mega Nutrient Stack (just ran out so I'm taking Colloidal Mineral Power in it's place. Mega is better, Colloidal is for normal people Smiling)
Pro Power Recovery Nutrient (just ran out)

3 sets of 5 on Hatfield Back Extensions with 196. Plus, 3 sets of Glute-Ham raises ranging from bodyweight to 35 pounds. The week off sick really made things feel weird, oddly enough it affected the smaller muscles more than the big muscles. Plus I need to get used to this Pro Power harness to add weight to back raises. It feels weird, but it's probably the best way to do things.

With the week off I haven't done this in about 2 weeks and felt it. I think back entensions contribute to the deadlift more than anything, but I'm curious how much carryover there is with snatch grip deads. Front squats have some carryover, but not as much as glute hams or back extensions. Lunges maybe, we'll see...

It seems that squats, glute ham raises, platform deads, back extensions have the most carryover. Single leg deadlifts, RDL's, and rack pulls maybe not so much but I'm still experimenting. I'm going to throw in a lot more ab work as well. We'll see...

It wasn't the supplement. Supplement is the only area I disagree with Dr.Squat. Money the root of all evil.
