Website Updates, Questions and Suggestions

Hi everyone,

I am guessing that everyone has noticed the new design by now. Dr Squat, Brian and I worked to merge the forum and the previous website into one framework. Now there is no need to have a login for the forum, one for the site. We can comment and post anywhere in one session.

The registration process has been improved. We now have a Trainer Registration Code during the registration process which will allow new users to register their trainer account with Dr. Squat. If you need this code, contact Brian McEwan at http://drsquat.com/content/contact-us

If for some reason your login/password are not allowing you to log in you can retrieve a password by visiting
http://drsquat.com/user/password

Pro Power's Catalog and the shopping cart system have also been replaced and now feature an easier checkout process.

You can visit your account page http://drsquat.com/user (if you are logged in) and Edit your different settings as well as upload a picture for your profile that will appear with your posts on the forum.

The use of some HTML and BBCode is allowed on the forum. If you need assistance to format your post you can refer to this page
http://drsquat.com/filter/tips/1

If you have any question regarding the use of the site, the different functionalities, or if you have any suggestions do not hesitate to contact me either through the forum or http://drsquat.com/privatemsg/new/1.

Jose, The site really does

Jose,

The site really does look great. Clean and easy to navigate!!

I'll nit-pick and give two possible minor improvements:
1. Make the linked text a darker blue instead of the lighter blue to help them stand out more.
2. For the Forum I notice you use a larger font to separate posts. I like that. Maybe Doing a light blue background for every other post response would help to "separate" the responses more and not make it look like one big list of words.

But that's about all I'd recommend. Again, nice job!!

yeah looks sharp! also

yeah looks sharp! also great video added!

i agree with what matt said about separating the posts by colour, it'd be helpful i think. also, is it possible to have it so the posts appear in order, as they did on the previous forum (instead of the latest on top) .. and also an option where all old posts can be collapsed?

thanks for the comments

Matt, Bruce,

Thanks for the comments. We will work on it. For the colors, let me understand it, do you mean an alternating background color from post to post? Like the rows of this table: http://drsquat.com/tracker?

For the collapsing I'm not sure. I will have to look into that.
For the ordering, yes, it's possible.

I think I'll create a few polls tonight to get some feedback Smiling

Jose, the site is very well

Jose, the site is very well designed and coded.

I ran it through a couple of automatic test procedures which showed that the keypoints of good programming and designing have been considered. Especially Usability, Accessibility and Search Engine Optimization. The forum will take some time to get used to but it's still better than the old one.

One tip: the meta tag "description" is missing. Adding it might help optimize the site for the search engines.

Thanks!

Good morning Nizar!

Well thanks for the compliment! The description is there, when you look at single pages. The aggregation pages (Recent posts, etc...) are not able to get a description. I can set one up on the homepage though.

Suggestions

I would like to suggest adding the "Mark all forums read" link. What about having a "views" column, like on the last website,to be able to see how many have looked at the thread?

I noticed that if you select

I noticed that if you select "add comment" that it will post on the top and if you pick "reply" it will be right below the comment to which you just replied . . .. This confuses, frustrates, and angers my inferior sized brain. Can you change that to how it was like before, where all comments/replies appear below the previous one? That was much simpler and easier to follow.

and separate posts by color .. . that is a good idea too.

The site is probably cool btw . .. just gotta get used to it.
