Use elasticity at bottom of squat for exploding upwards?

I've seen one website that said you should use the elasticity of your knees/legs at the bottom of the squat for the upwards motion and one site that said not to do this and to drive from your legs. Which one is correct? Thanks

Viscoelasticity is also used in firing a 100 mph fastball. In fact, most sports use this component of strength. Added to this is the stretch reflex. Clearly, you had better be ready for the tremendous forces delivered to your connective tissues and joints! That means careful planning...

If you want big numbers,

If you want big numbers, widen your stance and learn to "bounce" back up immediately once you hit depth.

If you want muscle development, just squat all the way down and drive it back up.
