Tabata training

Anybody doing these?

It's good for masochists, but anything to save time.

I am pressed for time and am doing Tabata's 20/10 on a heavy bag or
20/17 with a 28kg kettlebell for one arm thrusters. (working down to 20/10 hopefully)
Pretty high intensity with some restraint as I am 48 and in good, but not my best ever shape.

I was pretty good for awhile doing it about 4 times a week, but hard to keep this up. It makes you think maybe the excruciating boredom of jogging might not be as bad as remembered.

Also done before weights and you are pre-fried. No energy to do after, so generally it's on rest days.

thanks

I am doing Tabata-style

I am doing Tabata-style training with thrusters. I was hurting for more weight but you reminded me I have kettlebells. One-arm thrusters sound awesome.

I tried getting these in after heavy squatting. It was doable but I would have thrown up. Got 4 sets in before I punked out. I guess I'm just medium-core. Or maybe a pliable leather upper with a wooden hardcore.

Tabata.

BTW If you are going to try them make sure to get a gym boss or other type of interval timer. Watching the clock just does not do it.

I started slow, but am starting to make good progress with this.

Hey, just tried these

Hey, just tried these one-arm style with a kettlebell. Sweet! And much more difficult than I'd anticipated.

I used it for Front squats

I used it for Front squats as Dan John wrote on T-nation and they kicked my butt. Now, due to changing training goals I have switched to swim sprints for Tabata - less stress on the body and works the entire body. I do this once a week.
