Greetings.
I've been reading some of the stuff from Mark John and Pavel and am thinking about trying some Tabata for fat loss. I'm going to use the front squat variety that Mark describes and was just wondering if anyone else has experimented with Tabata and what their results were. Assuming I do the Tabata in the morning and my normal workouts in the afternoon - any negative impacts noted on normal training routines?
Thanks!

Tabata
I'm not an expert, nor a professional by any stretch of the imagination, but if you are truly engaging in a tabata protocol, you will be so beat by the end of the 8th cycle, you do not need any more exercise for the day. I run tabata, kettlebell tabata, and calisthenic tabata, just to keep things shook up, and I am always beat at the end. If the 20/10's get boring, kick it up to 30/15's or 40/20's. the fat burning will continue throughout the day.
Good luck
I've tried them
Vaughn, I've tried the Tabata thing using Thrusters as the movement. I don't know what it will do to you if you put them early in the day. I've used it either after all other training or when I pretty much had time for nothing else. And after the Tabata I was pretty much useless. Maybe having the most of the day to recover will keep it from messing up your other training, but I don't know. You'll probably have to experiment. What is most important in your training may need to decide your exercise order. Movements that require greater skill should be done early on as well. Good luck to you!
Should have said 'Dan John' not 'Mark John'
Just in case anyone tried googling that name and came up blank, it was Dan John and you won't come up blank by googling him! Thank-you for the input on Tabata - I knew I would be toast immediately after doing it which I why I thought morning for Tabata and evening for normal workout; that's how I currently split my aerobics and weight sessions. I'll post back and let you know how it goes, gonna start with front squats doing 8 cycles of 20sec/10sec.

Fred, you get a nice mention in their book...
Greetings Doc!
I'm reading the Dan John / Pavel Book "Easy Strength: How to Get a Lot Stronger Than Your Competition-And Dominate in Your Sport" -- you get a nice mention for your work on Compensory Acceleration and they list "Power: A Scientific Approach" as still being a must read for anyone in the strength sports.
Nice to see people referencing and complimenting the 'classics' rather than down playing them.
