INTUITION:
WHAT SCIENCE SAYS (SO FAR) ABOUT HOW AND WHY INTUITION WORKS

Abstract: Intuition is defined for the purposes of this analysis as: the appearance in the mind of accurate information about the external world, which can be shown to have come not through the
five senses, nor through a rearrangement of stored memory contents. Forms of intuition obeying this definition have been explored scientifically under such labels as telepathy, precognition,
presentiment, and remote viewing. This paper summarizes those scientific findings, and presents a few theories which have been hypothesized to explain them. Those theories are largely based in
theoretical physics, including quantum non-locality, holography, and complex space-time. Related biological theories are also cited, which propose to explain how information might move from the
subatomic level up into waking consciousness, for example through DNA structures or neuronal microtubules.

Now thats a nice idea... but

Now thats a nice idea...

but how on EARTH are you ever going to test how information can travel through the non-locality principle and into our DNA?

In fact, there are no documented cases ever in which someone was able to accurately use mind reading or astral projection or any of the things this would make possible under controlled conditions.

Agreed, Kid. But

Agreed, Kid. But nonetheless fascinating!

Doc, you need to check out

Doc, you need to check out BLINK, by Malcolm Gladwell.

Good book!

Very familiar with this

Very familiar with this book, Todd! Also the concept...which (of course) isn't newly from Gladwell.

OK, let me spill my guts here...the reason I am fascinated by all this stuff is that I have RARELY met a professed Christian who understands and relates to things given them by the Holy Spirit.

Will stop there for the moment...

Most people are purely

Most people are purely physical these days, totally distracted by world and worries around them. We live in cities away from creation, can't even see the stars at night, much less be relaxed enough to think about what it all means. Your observation is quite valid.

But you cant prove it...

sorry double post. Delete this one.

But you cant prove it...

But you cant prove it... thats the thing...

I dont wanna play the Flying Spaghetti Monster card just yet, but its in my deck just in case.

Right next to the Invisible Pink Unicorn and Ceiling Cat.

I'm not sure if he has any

I'm not sure if he has any stuff available any more, but a coach named Stan Kellner did a lot of research back 20 years ago on various aspects of sport Psychology, had some interesting thoughts on the topic as well.

The consensus in psychology

The consensus in psychology regarding intuition is that it is chance-based. But that's intuition defined in the same way a "hunch" is defined. Ya'll seem to be talking more about parapsychology-type things.

9th, we mean intuition that

9th, we mean intuition that isn't chance at all, but very quick (subconscious more than conscious) judgments/conclusions based on experiences.

There's some hard research on it. As Doc mentioned the concept has been around for sometime. Gladwell's book I mentioned is relatively new, but a pretty quick/lite read on the general subject.

This guy?

Yep!
