I have not perused other discussion forums in quite some time....
Was looking at some different stuff this morning and followed a few links to various discussions, and other discussions, reminded me of some forums I use to lurk on, went there to check it out, etc......
Kudos to Fred Hatfield for running far and away THE BEST FORUM on the web!
I've been posting here for a decade. I've learned a ton, and while there's been trolls, and idiots, and the occasional BS, the few small incidents, annoyances, etc. are nothing compared to the mental masturbation on a lot of boards.
Like I've said, I've been here a long time, I've gotten to know Fred and FredII, consider them both friends. Gotten to know some of you guys, Even got drunk with Kim Baugher one time (his fault completely, I thought it was protein shakes).
But the level and maturity of discussion is light years ahead of anywhere else. Frankly, I would be hard pressed to learn anything from some of the 40 page discussions on most boards. I can duck in hear once a week and somebody has made a quip, posted a link, or offered insight that's informative.
Not sure if I've ever told you thanks Fred, but MY GOD thanks!
My asshole tolerance level isn't high enough to sift through the drivel on other sites!
Doc's always been 20 years ahead of the game. Squatted 1,000 20 years before anyone. Was writing about training concepts 20 years before anyone, has recommended various supplements 20 years before anyone else, was telling the world about steroids 20 years before they wanted to listen..... Hopefully this board fits the patttern and there will be more like it in 10-20 years.

Ah! All is cool! As the old story goes, "If you can't be cutting edge, then by God, be a blunt one!" Thanks Todd...means a lot! But, if you guys didn't come here, it'd be nothing but rants...thanbks to all, and kudos!
It is a good site
It is a good site, there's not much action lately but learning periodization helped me considerably. I buy Doc's supplements and hope after college to buy his exercise equipment.
I agreed as well. I found
I agreed as well. I found this board in 1995 while in grad school. Doc's use of science to back his claims is what stood out to me. Also, the good, better, best approach cannot be disputed. While we may discuss the same thing over and over, the visitors of this board is some of the smartest athletes I know.
Here's to another 15 years.

One of the greatest assets on the net!
First came here when I wanted to know what was really what. This place cuts through the crap and commercial hubris, lays it out plain and simple, fosters healthy debate, and does not tolerate willful ignorance. Through all this all seekers of knowledge are welcome ... novices and grizzled strength game veterans alike.
Most importantly, it has opened my mind to the many possibilities and interesting avenues that all of you individually pursue in the world of strength. The last several years have been a great educational experience for me. I don't feel like just a rock climber anymore.
Thanks to all!

My respects to the forum - especially to Doc for all the work he does.
I've asked various questions over the past few years - about lifting gear, exercise form, programme design, injury prevention etc... I always get some good information. Thanks to everyone who's put in the time and effort. I would NEVER have entered a competition without this forum.
My favourite Q&A of all time was when I asked about the length of an Olympic bar (I was doing some technique work with a broomstick) and Rickey Dale Crain answered. It's like getting Dylan on a guitar forum explaining the fingering of a barre chord...

forum
agreed, this is the only site i reccommend to anyone and the only one i frequent. it's all to the point and proven science. no bs and drivel, i agree with Todd wholeheartedly. thanks Doc
Let me not judge my fellowmen, but understand them, Lord, and when the casting of the stones begins, remind me of my many sins.
Thanks Doc!
I agree with the other comments in this thread, especially about all of the contributions that Doc has offered the strength community. Each time I open my well-worn copy of "Power", I'm amazed at the pearls in there that have remained consistent in athletic performance/strength training. Excellent material.
BTW...has there been any updates on getting any Dr. Squat t-shirts?
