Several people have recommended the Fatburner60 for me to incorporate into my workout regimens. I am curious ... has anyone (preferably females) used this product and if so, what was result? I don't want to use something that is going to give me the jitters.
Caffeine will do the same thing for 1/2 the price.
komjj14,
The biggest loss you will see with Fat Burner 60 is in you wallet. Fat Burner 60 is just another way of seperating you from you money.
Like every good fat burning formula, caffeine is one of the major components. If you get "the jitters" from caffeine, you're going to get it from Fat Burner 60.
You can get the same results by drinking a regular cup of coffee (200 mg of caffeine) or taking caffeine tablets (about $8 for 100 tabs). Both are about half the price of Fat Burner 60.
There's no gender difference in regard to the effects. The dosage effects is more body weight related. Meaning that if a small person and big person ingest it, most of the time the smaller preson react more to it.
Some individuals are more sensitive to caffeine, thus will react more to it.

I guarantee it will never work if you never try it.
Dialing in diet and exercise
Dialing in diet and exercise works wonders in dropping body fat fast. However most people don't do either, or when they attempt it, they don't do them well/correctly.
Any "fat burning" formula is generally guaranteed to be crap and not work as fast as making sure you sweat everyday, eating plenty of protein and fat and staying away from crap carbs.
Also, empirically, merely supplementing with fish oil compared to a "fat burner" does more for body composition changes all things being equal.
Male or female, fat burners
Male or female, fat burners won't do jack for you in terms of fat loss. They will help you lose weight, but the weight will all be water weight. The only real thing fat burners will do for you is to help you feel more energetic so that you can get some good workouts in. Like Kenny said, its nothing that caffeine can't do for you. And the doses of caffeine that they put in fat burners are way too much for what is good for you anyways. Additionally, studies have shown that caffein in such doses will have a significant impact on how much cortisol is produced due to stress. Cortisol is a stress hormone that makes you fat if your body produces too much of it.
So I'd just keep caffeine at more of a healthy dose, if you choose to use it. I've found that I can do just fine with no more than 1-2 diet sodas per day, preferably most of it being drunken earlier in the day. Otherwise I have trouble sleeping and I get nervous and jittery. I also like to have a diet soda before my workouts. Thats about it. Its enough to make me feel perky without overdoing it.
I'm also with Todd on the fact that a proper eating style along with regular exercise will give you the best results. That is especially in the long term. You have to train consistently every week. And you have to know which are the right foods to eat.
Not contradicting or
Not contradicting or challenging Charles here, just relating own experience.
Caffeine - it's a godsend for me. I take a pretty hefty dose 30 mins before workouts, 600-1000mg between supplements and espresso, no fat burners, depending on planned intensity of WO.
Along with it in my pre-workout mix I take a supplement with Tyrosine, Phosphatidylcholine and DMAE which helps adrenals and prevents the crash after the up.
I have no issues with cortisol from the large caffeine dose taken around 4 or 5pm, sleep like a log and maintain decent bodyfat with just weights and clean diet, no cardio...and I'm old!
Results are highly individual. For my metabolic profile and amount of tissue to absorb it I do just fine.
Caffeine content
Hey Mutsanah
That's a LOT of caffeine. Worth (about) 10 cups of coffee a day.
http://coffeetea.about.com/library/blcaffeine.htm
You'd get a positive drugs result at (about) a 1200mg dose (12mcg/ml in urine), heh heh.
I'd be a madman off that. But if it works for you...
Nick
(also not meant as a contradiction or a challenge, just a .02)
Fat burners increase metabolsim...
Charles,
Weight loss from fat burners is not just water weight. Fat burners increase your metabolism, thus burning more body fat/calories.
However, fat burners nor exercise "bullet proof" you, allowing you to eat at will.

6 gram of Caffeine Per Kilo of Body Weight.
Mutsanah,
As Nick noted, 1200 mg of caffeine appear to be a bit too high.
Research by the National Strength and Condition Association indicates that 6 gram of caffeine per kilo elicits the most effective increase in performance.
Thus, a 90 kilo/198 lb athlete could ingest 540 grams of caffeine. (6 X 90 = 540).
The research indicated caffeine dosage above 6 gram of caffeine per kilo of body weight was counter productive.

mg not g
Reckon you meant to write 6 mg of caffeine per kg of bodyweight, not 6 g.
I weigh 105 kilos and have
I weigh 105 kilos and have used as a ballpark Poliquin's recommendation of 10mgs / kilo BW for caffeine.
It's below what would give a positive on a test where caffeine in excess amounts is banned like NCAA.
Using Kenny's suggestion I would be 630mgs at current BW. That's why I vary between 600-1000.
Like I said, I'm in the ballpark.
Here is a comment from Poliquin's own supplementation program in 2009:
To ensure a high energy level during workouts, 45 minutes before training I take JavaStim and Yang R-ALA. I must stress that you cannot substitute another product with caffeine in it for JavaStim – this is a special formula that enables you to safely take a higher dose of caffeine without such side effects as the crashing associated with using energy drinks. It contains two amino acids essential to adrenal health that prevents the crashing normally associated with caffeine tablets.

I feel the reason I don't have a problem with this amount of caffeine (600-1000mgs) is because of my BW, tolerance, metabolic profile and because I take the amino acids he mentions to aid adrenals and avoid crash. But that's me...maybe different for someone else.
Caffeine tolerance is very
Caffeine tolerance is very specific. Some people can drink a cup of coffee in the morning, have the jitters, and still not be able to sleep at night. Others can drink two large starbucks and take a nap. Javastim is a pretty good product though. I'm really sensitive to caffeine, no problem with Java Stim, but just from a taste/convenience stand point, use coffee more often and never after lunch.
Also, I knows tons of people, as I read their moronic facebook updates, that on on ever weight loss gimmick available. None change appearances from one time I see them to the next, and many are on a different gimmick every month. The newest is "Power Gum."
However, I get messages from other friends who take my diet advice, no supplement regimen, no workout regimen, and had two texts this week asking if it was healthy to lose weight as quickly as they have.
Losing fat's easy, but pizza tastes better. And too many people want that magic bullet. I worked out outside 3 days ago in 102 degree heat with a heat index of 112 because of the humidity. If there were a magic bullet, don't you think I'd rather take one? I only had a 30 minute workout and nearly puked. But I'm single digit bodyfat and can allow myself pizza once a week if I want to.
Woops!
Howard,
Is there a difference?
I will make the corrections.
Thanks,
Kenny

I suppose a little caffeine
I suppose a little caffeine will do you good performance wise. But I highly doubt caffeine can increase your metabolism enough to make a noticeable difference in body fat.
As far as keeping the fat off goes, nothing can even come close to to what a balanced eating style and exercise plan can do for you. The good news to that though is that if you do it right, you will always be satisfied with what you are eating and you will never go hungry. Improving composition is not about deprivation.
mg v. g
Yes, 1000-fold difference. 1 gram (g) = 1000 milligrams (mg). A milligram is a thousandth of a gram.
A cup of coffee contains about 100-200 mg caffeine; call it 150 mg. Citing your example of a 90 kilo/198 lb athlete ingesting 6 g of caffeine per kg of bodyweight, that's (6 x 90 =) 540 grams of caffeine. That 540 grams is 540,000 mg of caffeine, or about 3600 cups of coffee! For your 90 kg athlete instead consuming 6 mg of caffeine per kg of bodyweight, the athlete would consume 540 mg of caffeine, or about 3.6 cups of coffee, which looks about right.
I know the difference.
Howard,
I know the difference. I have a dry sense of humor.
Thus, the
after the question and me mentioning that I would correct it.
However, I was locked out on editing it.
