Great journal article on post-exercise supplementation.

Does anyone know if it matters if the increased insulin response is acute or prolonged throughout the day regarding recovery? I'm just wondering how the PWO shake idea compares with simply eating more throughout the day. Haven't really kept up on the research in the area.

Great journal article on post-exercise supplementation.

Good article but nothing new. It is what I've said on here at least a half dozen times.

The acute insulin response is what matters. Simply eating more is not sufficient and can delay sarcomere recovery by a day or more if the workout is of the nature that would cause a lot of microtrauma. That 30-45 minute time frame after a workout is key to get the macronutrients necessary to further stimulate the natural insulin response and protein synthesis.

Interesting. It also talks about glutamine peptides, anyone know the difference between that and just straight glutamine?
