Well yall... i have about 4wks of training left so i thought I might as well post it and see what happenes.
I'll be heading back into the gym tomorrow after the Christmas break, I wish I didn't have to take time off... well, I guess i did get in a small squat session today, but what can ya do.
My main focus over these next four weeks is to learn my new shirt, and if that isnt happening, then i will be trying to touch with my shirt that is like 3 sizes to small.
My total I'm hoping for is 1550+. I am underestimating my numbers because there aint no where else to go but UP! Looking for a 600+ squat, 450+bench, and 475+ deadlift.
I've had quite a few injuries in the past few years, trying to overcome a back injury still as we speak. But, do what ya can, and shoot for the stars.
Chefcia's Pre-competition log
Chefcia, good to see a new log here, what weight class do you plan on competing in, and also, what fed is your meet under? Can you also talk about your gear choices? From your posts I've gathered that you are somewhat experienced competing so I look forwrd to learning from your approach. Good luck in your meet!
Chefcia's Pre-competition log
I am 21, i'll be competing in the 220 collegiate weight class for USAPL. I am looking to total 1800+ for nationals this year in April, but we'll see how the body holds up. I use an inzer rage-x/rage for my bench shirt, and a titan centurion for my squat/dead suit. I also use Inzer knee/wrist wraps.
I am a big fan of the titan suit because of the stopping power. I mean how can you beat a suit that gives you the ability to feel minimal weight at the bottom of the 500+ squat and explode out of the hole with it. I also like the Rage-x/Rage for this reason also. I love the stopping power. I have tried the Phenom and honestly i wasnt that impressed. I know there are some amazing equipment out there, but this is what I choose to use and what works for me the best.
I have trained with the West Point Army powerlifting team for over... shit... its been almost 3 years now. I am down in Columbus as we speak working for school, maybe one of these days I'll be lucky enough to spend some time with Dave Tate or Westside and get some more knowledge. As I'm sure yall know, trying to educate yourself on powerlifting and the iron game by yourself is pretty difficult. I mean shit, between yall and Elitefts are the only ones I pay attention to anymore. I mean I still troll the over sites now and again, but the constant knowledge that is usually dead on can't be beat. But, I havent given up hope... and one day I'll figure it out... haha.
My best friend just took first at USAPL nationals this year... he' shooting for a 2000 total in the 275 collegiate weight class. Can't wait to get back around the iron with him, he's a strong son of a bitch, I'll catch him one day, ha!

Chefcia's Pre-competition log
Well... its kinda weird since they have a different schedule than mine. We do ME Upper and lower one weds and thurs. then i hit my speed days on monday and friday. Kinda a tough schedule... but between driving 1.5hrs to get there it and work it kinda messes it up.
Chefcia's Pre-competition log
You do ME days back to back? I used to do them Thursday and Friday. It tore the crap out of me. Now I do ME on Tuesday and Thursday.
Chefcia's Pre-competition log
Ya i have to if I want to train out there with them man. I dont care if I am a little sore, besides, its a great chance to learn alot, so why not.

Chefcia's Pre-competition log
Eh... work up early as hell to head out to the compound for a speed upper day.
I swear to god I have never seen this many people there before, and guess what they were doing? Ya, you guessed it, bench. haha damn sissys cant show up for a leg day if they tried. From what i hear they show up once a week, eh, lame.

All in all a good day, my fore arms are shot from benchin in the shirt these past few weeks, so i need to back off. BUt the strength is coming up, I get to try out the new Metal King line this week, excited about that. If i like it i'll buy it, but we'll see what happenes.
Chefcia's Pre-competition log
Went down to the compound today with the intention of max upper... ya... I got to try the NEW King V-Squatter by Metal. This thing is the SHIT! I couldnt believe how amazing this thing was. I mean I've always used the titan and inzer stuff, which is semi-tight... it took me 1/2hr to get this damn thing on w/ suit slippers. After it was on and seated properly, I worked up to 455 straps down, hit 5 reps. Dave and I made the decision to put the straps up then, I tried to hit a comp. depth box (13")... haha I tried to force the suit and it totally rejected me.
Dave moved me up to a 22" box and just worked on form. I can't believe how tight and strong this suit is. Jumped up to 495, could barely hit the 22" with straps up. SHit I could barely keep my arch in the damn thing. I hit 495 for 5 reps and called it a day. Today I heard the best quote I have heard in a long time...
Me: Dave, I can't believe how great and fucking powerful this suit is...!!!!
Dave: Brendan, WELCOME TO POWERLIFTING! I don't care if it's single-ply, double-ply, or triple-ply, it's all the same. If you think your hemaroids are bad now, just wait to you hit depth in the thing.
