That's pretty good...not quite as good as my 295lb'er... (just kidding) Eye-wink

Very cool!

You using a box on those?

BIG DADDY'S TRAINING JOURNAL

Scary figures Charles. Are you close to a competition or just at the peak of a cycle?

BIG DADDY's picture

BIG DADDY'S TRAINING JOURNAL

i'm not using a box yet at this point in my training . no i'm not getting ready for a contest just peaking i take next week completely off to let my body recover. Laughing out loud Laughing out loud Laughing out loud

BIG DADDY'S TRAINING JOURNAL

Big Daddy, you are EVIL!!!

Yes!

Scary...try being the only jack-ass responsible for getting him back into the rack with a boat load of weight on his back...his squat is getting ridiculous. I think the only reason he does not train with his suit is because he gets tired of loading so many plates on the bar!! Can't blame him fro that...

Wow!! i thought 600 was heavy, you guys are El-Gigantos/dinosuars.....

no one asked that question when we workout. that's not because we're dicks it's because they know what we're trying to accomplish.

you know it's funny for a fitness center the people here are very cool.

Rollry cRap Shraggy :!:

That's some serious weight.

BIG DADDY'S TRAINING JOURNAL

Why don't you use a heavy duty powerrack in a garage or better gym?
You could kill yourself or Jeff with that amount of weight. A powerrack would catch it. It must be worth the cost with that amount of weight. Esp with the benches too.

BIG DADDY's picture

BIG DADDY'S TRAINING JOURNAL

all our lifts are done in a power rack including bench and deadlifts . i thought i said that ?

BIG DADDY'S TRAINING JOURNAL

That's awesome. Is your rack bolted down? Ours isn't and that's starting to become a concern. It's only a matter of time before we have enough band tension to make it move.

BIG DADDY'S TRAINING JOURNAL

Question Charles! Why do you peak for nothing?

BIG DADDY'S TRAINING JOURNAL

I saw a squat rack on the videos before. Though it was the same one.

BIG DADDY's picture

BIG DADDY'S TRAINING JOURNAL

yes we them bolted down about three years ago .the rack was moving to much.

BIG DADDY's picture

BIG DADDY'S TRAINING JOURNAL

"Question Charles! Why do you peak for nothing?"

the main reason is i get bored on long linear programs .the program i use now is sort of like westsides wave cycle.

this is where you wave up for three to four weeks then start over at the second week and soi on.

the real answer is that it works for me . ifind i can make consistant progress that way.

387lbs on my squat in 4 years i can't complain.

BIG DADDY's picture

BIG DADDY'S TRAINING JOURNAL

i'm taking this week off from training to recover . the last couple of weeks has been good and a routine when things are going to good it's time to take a break. well at least that's my thought on the subject.

I've talked to Jeff a couple times and am incorporating some of your methods with some of my thoughts.

Yes there is a method to my madness.

I know where I want to be each workout. Now how I’m going to get there that week is up in the air until I get there.

Take my last entry my goal was to take my opener in the new ace pro and see how easy I could hit the whole.

I was not concerned about the top weights I pay know attention to that that’s why I use the chains.

The chains some how to me at least allow me not to factor them in the total poundage. I know it’s more of a mind game that works for me.

The rack pulls is something I did before my last couple of meets that worked for me. I started doing deadlift after squats my deadlift seem to be easier somehow.

Doing my deadlift on the same day as squat frees up the rest of my week for recovery or an extra bench day.

So now instead of 5 workouts I’m now down to 3 days.

BIG DADDY'S TRAINING JOURNAL

Got it.
So taking squat workouts as an example you may use chains, bands from the floor, reverse bands, box with bands, all depends on the mood and the ability to hit what you want on that given day?

I guess what I'm saying is, no set pattern.

BIG DADDY's picture

BIG DADDY'S TRAINING JOURNAL

Cool Yes as far as stay with bands, chains or box for a set amount of time yes.

Now as far as my goals for that day or the meet I’m getting ready for there is a pattern of progression.

I mean rep or load is being increase gradually over time.

I think I know where it may seem like it is done on a whim sometimes in my log.

What usually happens is over week is that I’ve pushed the load up as far as possible.

Now at that point I can feel the fatigue from that week starting to affect my other lifts.

That’s when I change gears which give the illusion of winging it.

I think it would be called more instinctive than winging it.

The most important thing here is that my mind remains fresh and focused on what I’m doing.

I’m trying to explain this as best as I can sometimes that’s hard for me.

I hope this helps? Cool

I think elite lifters rely a lot on feel. I read an interview of Chuck Vogepohl. He said pre-designed programs are fine for beginners. Once you hit a certain level you just know what you need to do and you are very in tune with your body. Big Daddy is probaby like that. One of the guys I train with is very much like that. He's been at it for about 20 years. He can even give me a pretty good idea of what I should be hitting x weeks out from a meet.
